Kepler - Multi-Factor Authentification is ready to be used as follows by an user:
Step 1: Begin by navigating to the standard Jira authentication page.
Step 2: Provide your primary credentials by enter username and password as usual.
Step 3: Upon successful authentication, a new screen will prompt you to input a secret code.
Step 4: Concurrently, an email containing the secret code will be dispatched to the email address associated with your Jira account.
On your first use, the email might be sorted into your spam/junk folder. It's advisable to check there if you don't find the email in your main inbox.
Code Expiry & Limited Requests
Each secret code remains valid for 15 minutes. After this period, it will become obsolete and you'll need a new code sent to your email.
Step 5: If you fail to receive the code in your email, there's an option to request it again. Simply click on the designated link for resending the secret code.
Reviewing the Secret Code Email
The total attempts to request a secret code via email are capped at 5. Exceeding this limit will halt the email sending mechanism for 15 minutes.
Step 6: For reference, next figure showcases an example of the received email. The secret code can be distinctly seen in bold at the center.
Step 7: Once you have the secret code, key it into the provided field and click on the “Submit”.
Important Notes on the Secret Code:
- The authentication secret code is single-use and specific to one account.
- Attempts to input the secret code are limited. With each incorrect entry, the number of remaining attempts decreases.
- Once all attempts are exhausted, the user account will be locked. To regain access, contact a platform administrator to unlock the account.
